Hourly Home Care

Care at home is often chosen because its allowing people to stay in their own home even when their care needs increases.

A carer will visit for one or few hours a day, to provide companionship, personal care, and support with day to day tasks. If you think your loved one need care and support, this is an option to consider for care at home.

What Is Hourly Care?

Hourly care can be recommended if your loved one is unable to manage tasks independently but doesn’t  need full-time care .

Carers can come into the home for any time between 30 min to one hour or couple of hours to help recipient with range of things such as:

  • Companionship

  • Create security

  • Increased mobility

  • Personal Care

  • Feeding

  • Medication prompting

  • Domestics

Hourly care is therefore a good option for those who might need that little bit of help-but in a way that helps them feel in control and independent. The tapes of care can vary from person to person, depending on their needs. Some may need one visit per day, whereas others may require more.

When is Hourly Care most suitable?

It is most suitable for those with less acute conditions, such as early-stage dementia where support is only needed at a minimal level. Or, in some situations where families are able to offer certain level of support alongside the home care.

Hourly care can be beneficial to people of all ages and various levels of care needs. It can be used for different reasons- including recovering from a surgery and rehabilitation.

In many cases in home care peoples condition do change and when this become more complex the level of care and support will change.

For example, when dementia progresses home care may not provide the same continuity in care and routine that`s required. In some cases, visits may be missed or changes in schedule or carers.

Hourly care  also may not be the safest option for those living with advanced dementia. This can become unsafe for people to be left unsupervised for even short periods of time- as they may be a prone to accidents.

When people`s care needs changes, there are always other options such as live-in care.

Before you decide whether hourly care is best for you, you should ask yourself few questions:

  • Do you need support with chores and domestic tasks?

  • Do you need help with getting in and out of bed?

  • Do you need someone to take you to your appointments?

  • Do you need support with personal care ?

  • Do you need someone to support you with taking medication ?

  • Do you need someone to support you preparing meals?

If you think that your answer is yes then you have to consider hourly care as your first step.
