  • How much does home care cost?
The cost of care will be based on the level of care requirement, location, how many visits per day and personal circumstances. To get an accurate breakdown you'll need to undergo a care need assessment as local authorities may be able to pay some or all of the costs. Home care carers usually charge per hour and can range from £14.50 to £25.00 during the day and more for care at night, weekends and bank holidays. Live-in care rate charged by Hearts Kind starts from £1380 per week for high dependency and starts from £980 per week for standard dependency. ,You will need to pay more on enhanced days and nights.
  • How do I pay my carer?
All carers are self-employed and set their own rates of pay according to their experience and skills, taking into account that they need to cover their own travel costs and expenses. For care received you make an online payment through secure system on our website. In most instances, we agree how many hours per week you require care for, and we set a booking between you and your carer(s) . Each week your carer completes a timesheet with the hours of care provided to you and we send your invoice, Once you have received the invoice you need to approve this, then we deduct payment by direct debit before transferring to carers account . For the service we provide to the carers, we charge and subsequently deduct a commission of 19% and taxes . This covers our introduction, insurance, promotion and payment service. Our use of technology is saving you money and ensuring that all our carers are much better rewarded than those individuals employed by agencies. You must not make any cash payments to the carer. Off-platform payments are not accepted and will make you liable to a placement fee of £2500.
  • Can I get any funding or benefits to support me paying for care?
This very much depends on you or your loved one circumstances... You need to contact the local authority and request a care needs assessment. The outcome of the process will be decided on the level of care that's deemed to be required. Financial means test is undertaken before they make a decision . For home care, this looks at the value of your liquid assets-excluding property. Here is a current breakdown of the asset thresholds in each nation of the UK. - England £23,250 - Wales £24,000 (care at home) or £50,000 (care in a care home) - Scotland £27, 250 - North Ireland £23,250 Check the following... * Check up the benefit you're entitled too * Check your eligibility for NHS funding * Access local authority care funding * Funding care with savings or assets.
  • Can Hearts Kind take payment from County Council?
Yes, Hearts Kind takes payments from council. We work with the local authorities to ensure that all individuals are able to afford paying for the support they need. To make a payment for your care with Hearts Kind, you will need to request the local authority funding you're entitled to as a direct payment. By doing this, the money will go into your account or separate account made by the local authority and you then can pay Hearts Kind directly. You may have to add little bit towards it as Council funding may not always cover all the costs.
  • Is there a minimum contract length?
No, there is not minimum contract length. You can hire your carer for as short or as long as you require. The length of service is decided between yourself and the carer and clearly stated on the service agreement that you draw up together. If at any time yourself or the carer cancel the visit, notice of 48 hours must be given.
  • What is the minimum visit length I can have?
The minimum visit length is one hour per 24 hours, which this can be divided into half-hour visits with the carers consent. We believe that shorter visits do not give the carer enough time to properly care for the client. Our minimum visits length ensure a better standard of care and more meaningful relationship between the carer and the client.
  • What terms apply to my bookings?
If you come into an agreement to proceed with the bookings for your chosen carer, you agree to the carer/client agreements which come into effect between you and the carer. The Agreement governs the nature of your contractual agreement with the carer and is a standard agreement that applies for all your engagements via Hearts Kind . Because your carers are self-employed it is not compulsory and are not obligated to use this agreement so they will let you know in advance whether are using different agreement.
  • How are your carers vetted ?
Hearts Kind checks all carers ID, qualifications and DBS Certificates. We face to face interview all carers that join Hearts Kind and assessing them against 5 criteria- punctuality, communication, skills, compassion/empathy, ability to take initiative and personal presentation/honesty. • What happens if my plans change?
We do understand that sometimes the care needs may change and that you need the flexibility of being able to change your arrangements. When this happens, changes to the workloads may need to be made to ensure that your carer(s) are able to support you when you required. If there is a small changes in hours and days, the carer(s) will try to accommodate your needs. If you wish to cancel any of the visits, you may do so, but this must be notified with no less than 48 hours. Any cancellation made under 48 hours notice, you will be charged at full price for the time cancelled. Any longer periods of cancellation must be given longer notice.

  • What can I do if I am not happy with my carer?
Our carers are highly trained and experienced but if you are not happy with the support you're receiving from your carer, we'd encourage you to tell your carer what you are unhappy about. In most instances, your feedback will ensure that their service can be modified so that you are satisfied with future service. You can also speak with one of our team members if you are not happy or have any concerns over any of the carers. If you believe that your carer has breached their contract with you, we will review the evidence and reimburse you if appropriate. All our carers have agreed to comply with Hearts Kind Code of Conduct which is modelled on the Code of Conduct for Healthcare and Adult Social Care workers in England. The code is designed to support you being treated with dignity, respect and compassion at all times. We are taking the code of conduct very seriously and treat allegation of breaches with zero tolerance. We understand that your plan may change and consider adjustment to the level of your support from Hearts Kind or you may choose a new carer.
  • What recruitment process do you have in place?
Recruiting the best carers is the main priority for us and we're highly selective to ensure you receive the best care. Our selection is based on trust, competence, kindness, reliability and the necessary skills and experience in care. Everyone is fully vetted and DBS background checked, we obtain two references on all carers to ensure they have good character. To support the quality of care that is provided to you, we encourage all our carers to complete face to face annual refresher training in Safeguarding, Manual Handling and First Aid.
  • Can I take on more than one carer?
Yes, you can have more than one contract at the same time. Carers can work as a teams to assist you. For example one carer may be contracted to help with general care and a different carer may take you out shopping. All our carers have different background, different skills and different availabilities, therefore all will be charging differently. Some carers have higher charges for weekends and bank holidays. Should you agree with them that they would work on bank holidays (Christmas Day, Boxing Day,New Year's Day or Eater Sunday) the carer will charge 50% higher than the hourly rate on those days.
  • Can I meet a carer before approving service agreement?
Yes, we recognise that it is helpful to meet a carer in advance before approving the service agreement. We encourage an initial video call before an in person meeting. All carers on the platform have either a Skype, WhatsApp or FaceTime account. After the initial call carers will conduct an introductory visit, all free of charge and this can be arranged by telephone call or email. After meeting a carer, if you are happy with them please confirm with us and we can proceed with your booking.
  • Can I pay the carer directly?
All payments are made via our secure online payment system in a process designed to protect both you and the carer. Any direct cash payment that are made by any of clients or requested by the carer would breach the terms and conditions we have with each of the carers. This would restrict the ability to secure further work from us. Any off platform payments to the carer would not be allowed and as detailed in the Clients Terms and Conditions, your relationship with Hearts Kind would no longer be trusted. Placement fee would be charged if you make any cash payments to the carer that we have introduced to you. If you wish to discuss this further please give us a call.
  • If my carer decides to go on holiday what happens then?
We understand your worry, but there are times when carers may need a break or going on holiday therefore your carer will inform you early in advance. When this is happening, usually our team can recommend a suitable carer in replacement. We know that continuity of care is very important and our carers will try to provide you with as much continuity as possible.
  • Why is Hearts Kind better than other care agencies?
A traditional care agency often take up to 50% of their carers salaries in fees. Hearts Kind is a platform for self-employed carer and our minimum fee are 19%+VAT which is included in your carer`s rates.
  • Is Hearts Kind Safe?
YES. We believe that Hearts Kind is safe than traditional care agencies. Our technology also allows you to be in contact with your carer via the Client App
  • Is Hearts Kind registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) ?
Hearts Kind connects clients with self-employed carers, who then contract with each other through Hearts Kind website, therefore our platform is not required to be registered with the Care Quality Commission. As a result of this, we are unable to make changes to a care plan, to increase the frequency of the visits or to take responsibility for replacing a care worker or direct changes to the activity of the carer in relation to personal care.
